Christmas Family Photoshoot: Mother and Two Sons in the Studio
New Year & Christmas Studio Family Photoshoot in Nha Trang
For this session, I wanted to create more than just a few standard family portraits beside a Christmas tree. We started with the mother and her two sons together, then photographed each boy separately, the brothers together, and the mother with each of her children. This gave the final gallery much more variety and made it feel like a complete family story rather than a small set of formal portraits.
The first part of the session used a warm, traditional Christmas setting with a large tree, fireplace, and red and gold details. We then moved to a lighter winter-themed interior with a silver-and-white tree and a change of clothing. The different sets and outfits created two noticeably different moods, even though the entire session was photographed in the same studio.
When photographing children, I try not to rely only on carefully arranged poses. Of course, family sessions need some photographs where everyone is clearly visible and looking toward the camera, but the moments in between are often just as important — children playing, laughing, hugging or simply interacting with each other. Those photographs usually make the complete series feel more natural.
I am now based in Nha Trang and photograph families with children on the beach, in tropical parks, hotels and other suitable locations. A Christmas or New Year studio session can also be created around an existing festive interior and decorations when a more traditional holiday atmosphere is preferred.
