Golden Hour Portrait Photoshoot: Warm Evening Light
Editorial Fashion & Lifestyle Portraits at Golden Hour
This series is built around a single look and the changing quality of evening light. We photographed among greenery, on stairways and around simple urban structures such as railings, paths and benches. The white outfit stands out clearly against the darker surroundings, while the low sun gradually brings warmer golden tones into the photographs.
I especially like working during that short period before sunset, when the light is already much softer than it is during the day. It can be used directly on the face, from the side, or from behind to create a gentle glow around the hair and more depth in the image. Even one relatively simple location can produce portraits with very different moods — from quiet close-ups to more dynamic full-length photographs.
There was no need for complicated posing here. We changed body position, direction of the gaze and used the stairs, railings and movement as part of the composition, while leaving enough freedom between the more structured frames. This helps the series remain relaxed even when the photographs have a stronger fashion influence.
I am now based in Nha Trang and photograph individual portrait, lifestyle and fashion-inspired sessions around sunset. Tropical parks, city locations, hotel grounds and the beach can all work well, depending on the person, styling and the mood we want to create.
